Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released the first trailer for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, a videogame tie-in to this summer’s Green Lantern Movie.

In the game, the player takes part in the battle between the Green Lantern Corps. and the Guardian’s first failed attempt at a galactic police force, the android Manhunters.

The game, which stars the voice talents of Ryan Reynolds, will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS, and will be hitting stores on July 1st, just ahead of the movie’s release on July 17th.

Here’s the official description:

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is inspired by the feature film, which brings the enduringly popular DC COMICS SUPER HERO to the big screen for the first time and which stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role as HAL JORDAN, the newest member of the GREEN LANTERN CORPS. In the videogame players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate weapon: the Green Lantern power ring.

I have to say, the trailer look pretty damn cool, much better in fact than what we’ve seen of the movie, which look overly CGI effect laden. At this point in the story, it look like Sinestro is still a member of the corps, and is fighting alongside Hal and Kilowog. There are some pretty cool fight sequences here, and there’s a an appearance made by the Gatling gun construct that Warner Bros. are releasing as a toy.
