Peter Sarsgaard Cast as Hector Hammond in the Green Lantern Movie


The Hollywood Reporter has discovered that Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations to play the role of Hector Hammond in the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of  Green Lantern.

Peter Sarsgaard will join a cast that includes Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, and Blake Lively as Carol Ferris (see here).

The character of Hector Hammond was created by John Broome and Gil Kane, and originally appeared as in Green Lantern (vol. 2) # 5 (March-April 1961). Hammond is the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers fragments of a strange meteor.

Green Lantern is being directed by Martin Campbell, with Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti producing. The script was written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Green, but is currently being revised by Michael Goldenberg. The movie is set for a june 17, 2021 release date
