Dark Horse Digital’s February Release List

0

I have been very resistant to the “digital revolution” of comics. Followers of my personal Twitter stream most likely think of me as a curmudgeon old git, due to my resistance to it. But the truth of the matter is that no one has done it right so far. DC, Marvel, IDW, BOOM… all of their releases are done through the third-party’ Comics’ App, by comiXology. No offense to comiXology, but the problem is that not only does the publisher want to make money, but so does comiXology, I mean, they’re a business, of course they do. The result of this is digital comics that are just too highly priced!

Dark Horse is trying something different though, they’re launching their own digital comic platform, and are cutting out the middle man. This allows them to sell titles for only $1.49 (regular price is $1.99-2.99), meaning cheaper comics for readers, and more money to the creators! Sounds pretty cool, eh? In addition, if you don’t have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you can read them on your computer. Genius!

The app will be launching in January, with a ton of classic DH titles (see here), and they will regularly be releasing more new and classic titles every month. Check out the list of February releases, below:

From the press release:

As you’ll recall, we’ll be launching the Dark Horse Bookshelf app from the Apple app store for your iPhone or iPad in in January 2011. You can also go to digital.darkhorse.com to read comics from your laptop or home computer. New titles and reprinted material will be appearing on a weekly basis, and in February expect to see select issues of your favorite comics appearing online the same time they’re released in stores (not included on this list)!
