SDCC 2010: Day Two - The Highlights!

0

Well, I was going to blog about all the news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con today, but frankly, there was just too much news, and too little time.

I will say however, that highlights from today’s news included:

  • Grant Morrison will be writing a new Batman series called Batman Inc., featuring artwork by Yanick Paquette.  The series will apparently pick up on events following the conclusion of Batman: The Return, and will be a team book!
  • Paul Cornell will be writing a Knight & Squire series… how cool is that!

  • Top Shelf revealed a gorgeous page of Kevin O’Neill‘s artwork from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. III Century #2 - 1969

  • Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning will be writing an Iron Man/Thor miniseries. OK, this was actually announced a couple of days ago, but I completely missed it. However, when I found out, I had a total nerdgasm! The series will be four issues, will hit shelves in November, and will have artwork by Scott Eaton.

  • Dark Horse will be bringing back Dark Horse Presents in print form! After the great success of Myspace: Dark Horse Presents, the company feels that the anthology series is ready to come back in its original print form. Take that digital comics! Thank god for that. I love Dark Horse Presents, but seriously hate Myspace. Yay!

  • Mark Waid will be writing a new Captain America Miniseries called Captain America: Man out of Time. The series will be five issues, and will feature artwork by Jorge Molina. The story will be a “what if” type of deal, with Captain America being defrosted in the early 21st century, instead of the 1960′s.

  • Marvel will be releasing a second volume of Strange Tales! Contributors announced thus far include: Alex Robinson, Dash Shaw, David Heatley, Dean Haspiel, Edu Medeiros, Farel Dalrymple, Frank Santoro, Gene Yang, Gilbert Hernandez, Harvey Pekar, Jaime Hernandez, Jeff Lemire, Jeffrey Brown, Jhonen Vasquez, Jillian Tamaki, Jon Vermilyea, Kate Beaton, Kevin Huizenga, Nick Gurewitch, Paul Hornschemeier, Paul Maybury, Rafael Grampa, Shannon Wheeler, Terry Moore, Tim Hamilton and Tony Millionaire… and more to come!

  • Grant Morrison has signed on to write Sinatoro, an original, psychedelic revenge thriller for ZDONK, a production company that connects talented filmmakers directly with their fans. Music video director Adam Egypt Mortimer is attached to direct the project with ZDONK set to produce.
