David Slade Developing New Daredevil Movie Based on Acclaimed “Born Again” Story Line

1

Last February, we shared the news that Marvel were looking to reboot the Daredevil movie franchise. Well, The Hollywood Reported is now saying that David Slade is currently in talks to develop and direct the new Daredevil movie, being made by 20th Century Fox and Regency. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark of Chernin Entertainment are producing the project.

The project currently has no title or writer, but it seems that the studio is actually looking to continue the story started in the 2003 Daredevil movie, rather than rebooting it, although with a different actor in place of Ben Affleck (thank God).

Apparently, THR‘s sources have told them that the new story line will be adapted from the critically acclaimed Frank Miller-written and David Mazzucchelli-illustrated Born Again arc of the comic series, which saw the Kingpin of Crime learn the identity of the superhero and begin to systematically destroy his life.

I’m actually really pleased to hear that they are no longer looking to reboot the entire story, because I’m getting a little tired of having to watch superheroes’ origin stories told again and again! I’m also glad the Affleck won’t be reprising the role. That man is a terrible actor!
