New Lady Death Ongoing Launches December 2010

From the press release:

New publisher Boundless Comics is proud to announce the launch of a new, ongoing LADY DEATH series, beginning monthly in December with its #0 issue. Written by original creator Brian Pulido and Mike Wolfer (Gravel, Night of the Living Dead), with luscious artwork by newcomer Marcelo Mueller, LADY DEATH #0 is a 32-page, full-color extravaganza featuring the debut of Lady Death’s startling new persona! Furthermore, the issue has been awarded the coveted “Featured Item” status by Diamond Comics for their upcoming October Previews catalog.

In LADY DEATH #0, readers will be introduced for the first time to Illadra, a simple thief in medieval Spain, whose terrifying nightmares link her unnatural skills to a previous life… as Lady Death! Disbelieving these visions, she suddenly finds herself thrust down a bloody path of self-discovery when attacked by a demonic emissary and a battalion of zombie warriors. Thus begins her quest to recover her true self - a femme fatale whose memories, powers, and very soul were stripped away by the mystery villainess, Death Queen! LADY DEATH #0 is the first chapter in an epic story arc, with bold character developments sure to revitalize this indie icon for the next twenty years of her publication.

· LADY DEATH #0 Regular Edition (OCT100911, $3.99)
· LADY DEATH #0 Wraparound Edition (OCT100912, $3.99)
· LADY DEATH #0 Art Deco Edition (OCT100913, Ask Your Retailer!)

“To actually be able to play with Brian Pulido’s greatest comic creation is something I’ve been dying to do for a long time,” says co-writer Mike Wolfer, whose prior creative collaborations alongside writer Warren Ellis have been regarded with much critical acclaim. “Brian and I have been friends since our early indie days, but to now materially participate in the creation of an all-new chapter in the history of such an iconic character is incredibly exciting and gratifying. I think readers will see that the combination of Brian’s established history as a multi-layered storyteller coupled with my horror genre sensibilities (on such titles as Night of the Living Dead and Friday the 13th) has resulted in a LADY DEATH we’ve not seen before, and hopefully one who will stand toe-to-toe with the classic interpretation of comics’ baddest ‘bad girl.’”

The launch of this new ongoing series follows hot on the heels of early October’s LADY DEATH PREMIERE promotion, a bold initiative designed to introduce the character to a whole new generation of readers. With the strong support of participating retailers nationwide, Boundless Comics will be providing customers with free copies of the PREMIERE comic book, featuring an original 11-page story that bridges the gap between Lady Death’s previous adventures and her new status quo. This giveaway comic will appeal to both long-time enthusiasts and curious newcomers; after sampling the LADY DEATH PREMIERE story for free, store customers are encouraged to pre-order December’s release of LADY DEATH #0 through their retailers.

Further establishing their commitment to the brand, Boundless Comics also recently announced the November release of LADY DEATH ORIGINS VOLUME ONE, the first in an exciting new line of graphic novels collecting the historic adventures of Brian Pulido’s beloved femme fatale. This first volume, collected in 160 pages with artwork by Ron Adrian and Richard Ortiz, will be available in softcover, hardcover, and special autographed variant hardcover editions.

Created by indie press icon William Christensen in 2010, Boundless Comics publishes high-quality, action-oriented comics, as exemplified by its initial release, LADY DEATH by Brian Pulido and Mike Wolfer.
