Is this the future of the B.P.R.D.?!

With issue #4 of B.P.R.D.: King of Fear hitting stands in a few short days, we’ve been told that Liz Sherman will be given the most startling visions yet of the end of the world while Abe Sapien discovers his role in it by finding the link between himself and the frog monsters. As King of Fear nears its end, startling information will come to light for our heroes in the B.P.R.D. with the final two issues of the series that acts as the final chapter of the Scorched Earth trilogy that began in 2008 with B.P.R.D.: The Warning and the end of the Plague of Frogs, which began clear back in 1994 with Hellboy: Seed of Destruction!

In a recent conversation with ComicBookResources.com Hellboy and B.P.R.D. creator Mike Mignola said, “We’re dealing with these characters—as much as you can in these kinds of comics—like people. So the accumulated baggage of their experience does change them. I said to (B.P.R.D. co-writer) John (Arcudi) from the beginning, ‘This isn’t the Marvel Universe. This isn’t the DC Universe. We’re going to break shit that never gets fixed.’”

Could these images show a devastating change for the B.P.R.D. that cannot be reversed? Or do they show a cause for hope? What comes next for the world of Mike Mignola’s signature creations? How seriously should you take the title of the next storyline, Hell on Earth? Get a glimpse in B.P.R.D.: King of Fear #4, on shelves Wednesday, April 14!
