Watchmen the Video game

- It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for me to comment on. Don’t worry, I have taken my antidepressants already this morning, so I am feeling quite calm….. arggggghhhh …. Edward mad! Rage destroying calmness. Yes, you read it right. There will be a video game based on the movie, which is based on the book. I hope we get some thing else based on the game, like figures based on the game, based on… well, you get the idea. The designers of the game say:

“The videogame based on Watchmen will go beyond the film and delve into the characters, rivalries and challenges in a mature action-brawler. The game provides gamers with visceral superhero combat as urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl.”

Oh.My.God! I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t like to be Alan Moore’s stress ball right now. An urban brawler? I don’t remember that much urban brawling in the book. This reminds me of Alan’s appearance on the Simpsons, when Millhouse asks him if he can sign his copy of Watchmen Babies. I wouldn’t be surprised if DC/WB actually did that. Hey parents! Buy your kids the Watchmen Pyjamas, featuring all your favorites, such as Rorschach, Nite Owl, The Comedian… I need to go lay down before I get a stomach ulcer

Darwyn Cooke to adapt Richard Stark’s Parker novels - CBR Newsarama

- I have never read any of these novels, but I understand they are rather popular in the crime fiction world. Darwyn’s artwork looks absolutely beautiful, in a gritty and dark way. come me in!

Rick Remender discusses his arc of Booster Gold

- I got a big head a few days back, because I guessed that he would be writing Booster Gold. Sadly, it turned out to be only one storyline, but it’ll do. The story will feature Starro, and will continue the Chronos and Lady Chronos storyline from his run on All-New Atom. The story looks great, but I can see what the problem will be. When Geoff and Jeff leave, the title will instantly lose followers, then Chuck Dixon’s issues will cause more people to leave. When Rick takes over there will be very few readers, and after his arc it will get canceled. I hope that is not the case.

Umbrella Academy series 2

- Hell yeah! Gerard Way gives away a few interesting hints about the next series of this fantastic title. Gabriel Ba is also back on interior art, and it will have covers by James Jean. If you haven’t read this yet, because of who wrote it, I implore you to to push those preconceptions out of your mind, and pick up the first trade. This series was fantastic, and deliciously odd. Grant Morrison says it is one of his favourite new comics, and he and Way are said to be doing a panel together this weekend.

Christos Gage talks about Absolution

- Christos Gage has written lots of stuff at Marvel, and writes pretty much every Wildstorm title. It could be fun to see him do something of his own. The only thing is that this sounds a little bit like a couple of the projects that Warren Ellis has released though Avatar. We’ll wait and see though. I like the way Avatar are doing these $1.99 #0 issues though.

Robert Kirkman discusses his new position at Image

- He has some interesting things to say. He talk about how Image was once important, and he would like to make it important again. I think he could actually do it. I would like to see Image get right up there with the big two, it is entirely possible, with the proper creators on board. More stuff like Walking Dead, Invincible, Godland, and Gutsville. Perhaps killing Spawn before it gets even worse would be also help.

Ed Brubaker’s new online series, Angel of Death - CBR Newsarama

- It seems Ed Brubaker will be writing a new live-action series for Crackle.com, which is Sony Pictures Entertainment’s online video network. In will air some time in 2009. Looks good!

DCU Online

- Sony gave a presentation on this upcoming game. This could be fun, but I expect it will actually suck. The article was a little dull, with a lot of talk about gameplay physics. It looks a hell of a lot better that DCU vs. Mortal Kombat though, which I think must have been thought up by Oxygen deprive chimpanzees.

Hey dude, more Watchmen game info for you:
It’s episodic; one episode to be released at the same time with the movie and one at the same time as the DVD.
It’s a prequel; takes place before the Keene Act.
    It’s third person, M-rated.
Len Wien and Dave Gibbons are on for the story.
The company making the game is currently developing Faith and a .45.
You control either Night Owl or Rorschach with the other being controlled by the AI or via split screen (no online?) co-op.

I didn’t change your mind at all on this did I?
    Nah, didn’t think so.

Thanks Dave. It confuses me that Dave Gibbons and Len Wein are involved in the story. This makes my brain hurt.
