Spider-Man to Join Remaining Fantastic Four Members in FF #1 to Form The Future Foundation

Marvel have just broken the news that Spider-Man will be joining the remaining three members of the Fantastic Four, to form a new superhero team called The Future Foundation. This new team will make their debut in in March, in FF #1, by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting.

While Spider-Man joining the Fantastic Four has been done before, I have every confidence that Hickman is set to unleash some seriously high-concept cosmic madness on readers. It’s rare that I go in for hyped-up ‘Big Two’ stories, but I have to admit that Jonathan Hickman is one hell of a writer, and I wouldn’t miss this for the world!

The press release:

MARVEL’S FIRST FAMILY SPINS NEW WEB – SPIDER-MAN JOINS THE FF!

March’s FF #1 Launches Star Studded New Super Hero Team

New York, NY – February 9, 2011— There is no more Fantastic Four, so just what is the FF? This March, the superstar creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting present the over-sized FF #1, introducing the biggest new super hero team of the century! After the death of the Human Torch, the surviving members of the Fantastic Four—Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman & Thing—join with Spider-Man and some top secret members to form an unstoppable force: The Future Foundation. Their mission is simple: save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?

FF will alter the very fabric of the Marvel Universe,” explained Tom Brevoort, Senior Vice President of Publishing. “Jonathan and Steve have crafted a unique, powerful new series that’s going to surprise a lot of fans with its combination of mind-blowing ideas and visuals.”

Why dont they just get Wolverine to join too and call themselves the Fantastic Avengers! By the time he’s finished appearing in all the teams and solo comics, ole Peter Parker is gonna need those clones!

  2. Edward Kaye says:

Haha! You’ve got a good point there! Marvel are staring to spread him a little thin, much like they already do with Wolverine and Deadpool. I’m a firm believer in the less is more principal!
