FX Orders Pilot of Bendis and Oeming’s Powers

Deadline is reporting that FX has ordered a pilot of a TV show based on Bendis and Oeming‘s creator-owned comic, Powers.

Charles Eglee (The Walking Dead, The Shield) wrote the pilot and will serve as an executive producer with Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Avon Oeming, Michael Dinner, David Engel and Circle of Confusion, the company behind The Walking Dead. Michael Dinner, will also direct.

Sony TV and FX Productions are co-producing the project, which has been in development for several years.

The production is slated to begin casting immediately for a spring shoot.

Bendis seems overjoyed with the news, Tweeting that “Powers pilot was just greenlit by FX,” he shared with his 34,000-plus followers Friday night. “It’s official! Your window of reading Powers while it was still cool is running out.”

That reminds me, I’ve been meaning to pick up the first book of Powers. I tried to get in to the new series, but found there was just too much back story…
