Bluewater Does Kathy Griffen - They Must be Running Out of Celebrities!

Fancy reading another crappy biography comic from Bluewater? No, me neither, but there you go…

From the press release:

COMIC READERS TO GET ‘THE WHOLE DAMNED STORY’ ABOUT KATHY GRIFFIN

Kathy Griffin’s take-no-prisoners approach to comedy has landed her a feature role in an upcoming biography comic book based on her life and career from Bluewater Productions.

Scheduled for an April 2011 release, “Female Force: Kathy Griffin-The Whole Damned Story” uniquely examines the acid-tongued comedian’s early years and how it shaped and propelled her rise to one of the most outrageously outspoken and well-loved (and hated) performers.

“She’s a groundbreaking, cutting edge comedian. She does not play it safe. She is also out there with attitude and a larger than life personality which has made her an ideal character for a comic book. One could almost see her as an unorthodox kind of superhero.” said writer Marc Shapiro.

Shapiro, a renowned entertainment journalist and author of the author of the New York Times bestselling biography, J.K. Rowling: The Wizard behind Harry Potter, and more than a dozen other celebrity biographies acknowledged the challenges a encapsulating Griffin’s long and distinguished career into 32 pages.

“With a standard book biography you have a good 50-75,000 words and 250 pages; so you get to go into all kinds of detail and perspectives. Obviously with a comic book you’re basically covering the high points, but, in a way, that is even more challenging. Hitting all those high points and bookending it with an interesting fantasy element is a lot more difficult than it would appear.”

Just like her skewering monologues, the title, is not for everyone, according to Bluewater president Darren Davis. It covers many of the adult themes and racy language that pepper her live act, television specials and popular “My Life on the D-List” reality program.

“Female Force: Kathy Griffin-The Whole Damned Story,” penciled by Gene DeCicco with a cover by Michał Szyksznian, will retail for $3.99 and be available through most online venues like Amazon.com as well as local comic book stores. In past issues, the monthly series has featured Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Margaret Thatcher, JK Rowling, Sarah Palin and others.

Female Force individual issues are also available on Amazon.com, where they have been ranked among the site’s top 300 books.
