“This is the most innovative comic series.” iTunes user: Jorge sky walker

DALLAS, TX – DECEMBER 24th, 2010 – Since its release at the end of September, the Clown Commandos app has been downloaded over 55,000 times. The innovative comic book app was one of the first to include interactive sound effects, story-driven transitions, and a series written specifically for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

“Many comic creators don’t like the limitations of these devices,” says the series’ co-creator Scott McFadden. “But we shine within those parameters. We don’t do the usual pan-and-scan like other comics. Our series is a true digital comic series.”

Now, with the release of version 2.0, fans of the CC can follow these painted soldiers by downloading each new issue in a single Clown Commandos app.

“As you open the app you’re automatically alerted if a new issue is available,” says the series’ co-creator Michael Anthony Steele. “A feature our fans have been clamoring for.”

Fans have also requested (and now received) a renumbering of the first two issues. It gives the “origin” story the standard comic book “Issue 0” moniker. This, along with the free issue, will make this a popular update.

To the uninitiated, you’re in for quite a treat. Clown Commandos is a unique, funny, and surprisingly deep new comic series. It covers a squad of heroes from an alternate universe where clowns actually evolved into elite soldiers. Now these heroes must survive in our reality where clowns are known as bumbling buffoons. A reality where the rubber nose is NOT a badge of honor.

Part G.I. Joe, part Ninja Turtles, and part Batman, these juxtaposed heroes fight crime while searching for a way home. But lookout-they take themselves very seriously while doing it. To them, there’s nothing funny about being a clown. And therein lies the heart of the series’ humor. No matter what kind of life or death struggle, no matter how evil the villain, Clown Commandos think nothing of taking down the bad guys with a well-aimed rubber chicken or a pie to the face.
