comiXology’s 2010 Top Digital Comics Download Stats

1

Over on comiXology‘s news blog, they have published stats on the top downloaded comics of 2010, through their Comics by comiXology App for the iPad/iPhone.

The results are pretty interesting, and show a definite trend toward downloading independent and creator owned comics, which is a vast difference from the sales results we see from Diamond each month, for physical comic orders. I wonder if there’s something in that. I expect that it’s partly due to the fact that digital comics are slightly cheaper, so people don’t feel like they’re risking as much, trying something new. I also notice that the earlier issues of acclaimed series sell rather well, so I expect people have heard the buzz about series like The Walking Dead, Kick Ass, Chew, etc. and are now going back and trying out the first issues, before forking out for the TPBs.

Oh, and Mark Millar seems to have cleaned up in these charts. His head is going to get even bigger!
