Read an Exclusive Extract from Dan Abnett’s Latest 40K Novel: Prospero Burns

Over on his always busy blog (, Dan Abnett has posted an exclusive extract from his latest Warhammer 40,000 novel, Prospero Burns.

Prospero Burns is he latest in the Horus Heresy series of 40K novels, which started with the Abnett’s Horus Rising, in 2006. The Horus Heresy books are a series of loosely related novels, by a number of popular writers, which all revolve around the Horus Heresy, a galaxy-spanning civil war in the 40K universe that marked the end of the Great Crusade. The event was first described in the 1988 Games Workshop book Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness.

Having read previous novels in the series is not a necessity, though familiarity with the background would naturally enrich the reader’s enjoyment. If this extract is anything to go by, the book is going to be another classic from the alltime master of Warhammer novels! If you’ve never checked out any of Dan Abnett’s prose work, I would highly recommend picking this book, or any of his other Warhammer novels, they are epic in every sense of the word!

The Emperor is enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a terrible mistake that endangers the very safety of Terra. With no other choice, the Emperor charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves, with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Sons home world of Prospero. This planet of sorcerers will not be easy to overcome, but Russ and his Space Wolves are not easily deterred. With wrath in his heart, Russ is determined to bring Magnus to justice and bring about the fall of Prospero.
