Deadline.com are reporting that Warner Brothers have brought Chris Nolan in to mentor development of the next Superman movie. Their inside source has revealed that he has been asked to play a “godfather role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus.”

The last Superman movie, Superman Returns, was unsuccessful at the box office, and was unpopular with both fans and critics. Warner Brothers are hoping the Chris Nolan’s experience with the incredibly successful Batman Begins, and The Dark Night, will will help guide the makers of the new Superman movie, and set them on the right track.

The next Superman movie will be released by Legendary pictures, in partnership with Warner Brothers. The movie is still in the early stages, but it is known that this film will not be a sequel to Superman Returns, but will be a complete series reboot, in the vein of Batman Begins.
