Variety.com nftpb has revealed that the Studio 407 sci-fi/horror comic book series Night & Fog has been optioned for a movie by producers Gilbert Adler and Shane McCarthy .

Written by Alex Leung & Matt Bradford, with artwork by Thomas Aira & Roberto Castro, Night & Fog is set during WWII, and story revolves around an infectious mist leaked from an experiment in a black ops bioengineering facility–to create a smart soldier that can adapt to any combat environment.. The ensuing bio-chemical disaster turns the inhabitants of a nearby village into a horde of rampaging creatures, leaving only a handful of survivors to escape infection. But things get dramatically worse when they discover that the transformation the creatures have undergone is only one of many–into something far more horrific and unstoppable.

Gilbert Adler is has plenty of experience with comic book adaptations, having produced Constantine and Superman Returns, and is currently working on the upcoming Brandon Routh vehicle Dead of Night, which is based on the popular Italian comic book series, Dylan Dog.

Alder is quoted as saying:

“This material is definitely in my strike zone in more ways than one… But what really appealed to me wasn’t so much the genre trappings but rather the characters that really drive this story.”

Night & Fog writer, and Studio 407 Director, Alex Leung will also serve as a producer on the movie.
