Sam Keith’s The Maxx Animated Series Finally Released on DVD

0

The Maxx is a comic book series created, written and drawn by Sam Keith that follows the adventures of the titular hero in the real world and in an alternate reality, referred to as The Outback. In the real world the Maxx is a vagrant while in the Outback he is the protector of the Jungle Queen. The Jungle Queen is similar to the Maxx in that she also exists in the real world as Julie Winters, a freelance social worker who often bails the Maxx out of jail. While the Maxx is aware of the Outback, Julie is not, though it is integral to the story of both the Maxx and Julie.

In 1995 ,the series was adapted into an animated series as part of the MTV program Oddities. This series covered covered Darker Image #1, The Maxx #1/2, and issues #1-11 of the regular series, depicting the introduction of Julie, the original Maxx, Mr. Gone, and, later, Sarah.

Fans of the series have been asking for a DVD release of the series for some years now, and on December 17th of this year, they finally got their wish. The complete animated series has been released exclusively as a DVD-R title through Amazon.com’s “CreateSpace” manufacture-on-demand program.

Here are the full details:

In the murky alleyways of New York City, homeless Maxx huddles in his box and dreams of crushing evil villains.  But when he bursts into the colorful netherworld of the Outback, the Maxx is a hero, in full purple splendor.  His friend Julie, a freelance social worker, thinks the Maxx’s alternate universe is just an escape from the harsh reality of New York-not realizing that she, too, roams the Outback as the Jungle Queen.

Join the Maxx for deliciously demonic adventures in both worlds, as he scours streets and jungles in search of the link between his two realities.  Will he be able to find the connection before it’s too late?

Includes all 13 Episodes plus interviews with Creator Sam Kieth & Director Gregg Vanzo, and audio commentary on all 13 Episodes.

This disc is expected to play back in DVD Video “play only” devices, and may not play in other DVD devices, including recorders and PC drives.
