Happy Birthday to Stan Lee & PJ Holden

Hypergeek would like to wish a happy birthday to a couple of great creators!
First up: Happy birthday to Stan Lee, who is 87 years old today! Born on December 28th, 1922, in New York City, Stan Lee is undoubtedly one of the most famous personalities in the comic industry. As a writer, editor, and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee co-created some of the most well-loved comics characters of all time, including: Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and many more.
These days, refusing to slow down for one second, Stan Lee is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief creative officer of POW! Entertainment (Purveyors of Wonder). POW! are responsible for the popular Syfy (nee Sci-Fi) Channel reality show, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, as well as the animated features, Stan Lee’s Mosaic, and Stan Lee Presents: The Condor. If you wish to wish Stan a happy birthday, be sure to hit him up on Twitter: http://twitter.com/SmilinStanLee. Amazingly, Stan only has 33,000 followers. To put this in context, Ashton Kutcher has 4, 200,000 followers. There is some thing wrong with the world!

Next up: Many happy returns to one of Hypergeek’s favourite artists, PJ Holden, who is 40 today! Hailing from Belfast, Northern Island, PJ is most famous as being a frequent contributor to 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine, where his artwork is often seen gracing the pages of popular ‘thrills’ such as Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Mega-City One, The 86ers, and Dead Signal.
PJ is currently working on the miniseries, Battlefields: Happy Valley, with fellow Northern Irish creator, Garth Ennis. The first issue of this series was released on Wednesday, December 23rd, so what better way to wish the man a happy birthday than going out and buying his new comic? Trust me, it’s well worth it. Check out my review of the first issue, and also see my recent interview with PJ about the project.
