Gothic comic book series featuring metal bands hits stores in March 2010
IDW Publishing is pleased to announce a deal with musician Llexi Leon to publish his gothic comic book series entitled Eternal Descent. Exploring the classic struggle between good and evil, Eternal Descent kicks off in March and will feature original characters developed by Leon, plus cameos by current metal band members.
“The melding of the musical and comic worlds in Eternal Descent is seamless,” said IDW editor Kris Oprisko. “Llexi’s epic story shreds like a metal solo, and the artwork is killer. Angels, demons, axes . . . and real heavy metal bands – what could rock more?”
Eternal Descent centers around two angels, Sirian and Loki, as they battle each other in a city where heavy metal could be the key to salvation or destruction. Their struggle expands to involve famous metal bands, with a backdrop of the latest music equipment. Written by Leon himself and based on his original characters, Eternal Descent will feature art by Jason Metcalf, with covers by Syzmond Kudranski and Svee Wheeler.
“Putting this book together has been a riot. Working with some of the most talented heavy metal players out there is an endless source of inspiration and a lot of laughs. Creating the world where my original characters could interact with iconic players like Gus G and Wayne Static was a tough balancing act, but when you see these guys torching zombies and feeding off power lines, I hope you’ll agree we got it just right!” said creator Leon.
Starting in comics, Eternal Descent will eventually expand to other mediums, including an upcoming record album and website.
Eternal Descent #1 will be available in stores in March 2010.
