YK01_13YON KUMA is a popular webcomic written by Josh Hechinger, with artwork by Jorge F. Muñoz. YON KUMA (“Four Bears”) is an 88-page comic being serialized two-pages-a-week on the web (Monday-Wednesday, with special bonus material on Friday).

YON KUMA is an action-humor comic following the twelve-year-old bear wrestler Bunyan Paulson as he contends with the four bear wrestling champions known as the Yon Kuma. Driven by a tragic back-story involving ice-cream, twelve-year-old Bunyan Paulson quests to defeat the Yon Kuma, the Four Great Bears a wrestler has to beat in order to become the greatest. Yes, Yon Kuma is basically an excuse to write and draw fight scenes involving a kid beating the tar out of huge bears.

Now, YON KUMA is being brought to the iPhone by Robot Comics, a company that publishes mobile comics for hand-helds such as Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, Google’s Android mobiles, Nintendo DSi and Amazon’s Kindle. It is one of first and few mobile comic publishers who offer titles specifically designed and formatted to be read on e-devices.

Issue #1 of YON KUMA is available through iTunes for free, while issue #2 is currently selling for $0.99. To find the episodes n the app store, please click here.

Users of Google’s Android mobiles can also download issue #1 for free by scanning the following QR code:

Get ready for 8 issues of intense Bear Wrasslin’ action on your iPhone by writer Josh Hechinger (Comic Book Tattoo, The Grave Doug Freshley) and artist Jorge F. Muñoz.

“Crazy fun! Josh and Jorge spin Yon Kuma firmly in a world of action and comedy. Bunyan Paulson is a character taking the wrestling sport to new heights — and we’re happy to follow.”- Jimmie Robinson (Bomb Queen)

“Josh Hechinger & Jorge Muñoz’s Yon Kuma is a energetic take on pro wrestling, mixed with popular manga motifs and done with strong cartooning. So far very well done, and much better dynamics than in most print comics, let alone online ones.” – Steven Grant (Punisher, X, Badlands, Permanent Damage)
