News: Jock to Take over Art Duties on DC’s Detective Comics Series
![]() |
British artist Jock, most well known for his work with Andy Diggle in 2000 AD, and on Vertigo’s The Losers, just announced that he will be taking over art chores on the Batwoman section of DC’s Detective Comics.
Or as he put it himself:
well, this is a bonus.emails from my editor at DC on a Saturday.talking my run on DETECTIVE COMICS feat. Batwoman.really looking forward 2 it…
…be good to follow JH. gotta do my own thing 100% and not be influenced by his take on it. he’s done a great job.
Written by Greg Rucka, Detective comics is one of DC’s new two-feature comics, with a Batwoman comic as the main feature and a backup feature starring The Question. Both strips are written by Rucka, with the current Batwoman artist being J.H. Williams III, and the current Question artist being Cully Hamner.
I asked Jock via Twitter when he is scheduled to start on the title, and he informed me that his run is scheduled to be from “#861-863, with probably 3 more down the line too.”
Jock has also provided a variant cover for Detective comics #859, which has internal artwork by J.H. Williams III, and says that he plans to “mix it up a bit for the strip work.” I for one cannot wait to see this!
