BOOM! Studios Joins Forces with Comixology’s Comics App for iPhone. Plus, The Comics App Receives Its First Major Update!

Hypergeek has just been informed that comiXology has released its first major update to its Comics app for iPhone. One of the most significant new features is push notification, so you can automatically be notified anytime your favorite comic book series has an update. You can also post to Twitter right from the app, see all the comics you’ve purchased (whether they are currently downloaded or not) and manage your entire collection directly from your library.

BOOM! Studios joins the Comics app list of publishers!
Some other exciting news that comiXology revealed is that Boom! Studios will begin distribution on the Comics platform for iPhone starting this Thursday (October 1st 2009) , with the first 4 issues of Mark Waid’s Acclaimed Irredeemable series available at $0.99.
