IDW have posted a 16 page preview of the upcoming ACT-I-VATE Primer. The ACT-I-VATE Primer is an upcoming hardcover anthology that showcases sixteen stories and eighteen creators from the premiere webcomix collective, ACT-I-VATE.com.

ACT-I-VATE, the premiere webcomix collective conceived by Dean Haspiel, debuted February 1st, 2006, on the blogging platform, Livejournal, and featured the works of founding members Dean Haspiel, Dan Goldman, Nick Bertozzi, Michel Fiffe, Leland Purvis, Nikki Cook, Tim Hamilton, and Josh Neufeld. Since then, the collective has expanded by hand-picking cartoonists at a regular rate to achieve its current membership.

ACT-I-VATE features original, serialized graphic novels and is updated daily. ACT-I-VATE’s select artists produce their signature work sans editorial oversight and offer their comix for free to an ever-growing audience of loyal readers. For all intents and purposes, ACT-I-VATE considers these efforts to be their DNA comix. In addition to these high-quality comix, ACT-I-VATE is known for having lifted the veil between creation, creator, and reader by providing a forum for spirited dialogue between audience and auteur. The website confirms one of ACT-I-VATE’s core tenets: that the artists and writers of the comix community are the optimal providers of intellectual properties and original content.

The members of the ACT-I-VATE webcomix collective are among the most industry nominated creators in the world. With 10 Eisner’s, two Harvey’s, six Ignatz, five Xeric’s, one Reuben, and one Eagle Award.

IDW will release this groundbreaking collection in October 2009, complete with a foreword by Warren Ellis.

With its roster of renowned creators serializing webcomix since 2006, ACT-I-VATE has reached a comicbook critical mass. Now this funnybook big bang has birthed The ACT-I-VATE Primer, the very first collection of stand alone, never-before-seen stories.
