Warren Ellis Working on a Movie Treatment Named EXCALIBUR / “Untitled Arthurian Project”

3

I try to avoid movie news on here, because this site is about comics, but for Warren Ellis, I’ll make an exception!

Warren Ellis made an announcement on his site today that he is currently working on a movie based on the Medieval British legend of Excalibur, which features the legendary characters of  King Arthur, Guenevere, Merlin, Lancelot, and the other Knights of the Round Table.
In Warren’s own words:

I’m writing a film treatment for Hollywood Gang, who co-produced Frank Miller’s 300. Hollywood Gang have previously optioned my graphic novel (with Chris Sprouse) OCEAN.

On my desk, the treatment is called Untitled Arthurian Project.

On their desk, the project is called EXCALIBUR.

I’m working directly with Gianni Nunnari, Oliver Kramer and Craig Flores (whom I was delighted to bump into on the Warner’s lot the other day) and having a great time.

He was apparently cleared to talk about this at San Diego Comic-Con, but all the press I did there was for his forthcoming Marvel Anime deal. Speaking of which, Idon’tthink I have seen coverage of that anywhere… weird…

I... am an enchanter... There are those who call me... 'WARREN'...

@Hypergeek Another Arthurian Fiction? And they need to change the title, Excalibur was used by Boorman in 1981.
